Time Collapses in Sound: Brainwaves, Trance States, and Healing Beyond Logic

“The body remembers... and sometimes, it remembers forward.”

ree

There’s something strange that happens in a soundbath.

Time stretches.

Moments blur.

You lose track of your body, yet somehow, you feel more like yourself than ever before.

People often ask me, “What actually happens during a sound journey?”

And the truth is, it’s not just relaxation.

It’s a neurological and energetic shift. One that changes your perception of time, unlocks deeper memory, and allows the body to step outside the usual rules of logic and language.

The Science: Shifting Into Trance

Your brain runs on electricity, and that electricity pulses in waves.

Most of the time, we’re stuck in beta, the alert, thinking, problem-solving state.

Great for admin. Terrible for healing.

But during sound therapy, especially with layered frequencies and immersive instruments like gongs, bowls, and voice, the brain slows down.

It begins to shift from beta into alpha (relaxed), theta (dreamlike), and even delta (deep, non-verbal restoration).

Theta is where it gets interesting.

Theta is a liminal space, not quite waking, not quite asleep. It’s the state children live in.

It’s where visual imagery, symbolic processing, and emotional integration happen.

It’s also where the body stops analysing and starts releasing.

When Time Stops or Loops

During soundbaths, I’ve had people say things like:

“It felt like it had only been 5 minutes.”“I left my body and came back.”“I saw memories I haven’t thought of in decades.”“I felt like I was in a womb, floating in space.”

These aren’t hallucinations.

They’re shifts in perception. The brain enters nonlinear space.

In these moments, something profound can happen.

Your body remembers something it hasn’t accessed in years.

Or it reaches forward toward something you haven’t lived yet, but are now ready to become.

Sound doesn’t just take you back.

It opens up possibility.

The Collapse of Story and Identity

In theta and delta states, your conscious identity, the one that’s always narrating and controlling, becomes quiet.

And underneath it, something ancient stirs.

This is where I’ve met versions of myself that feel truer than my day-to-day persona.

Not the masked version.

Not the overthinking fixer.

But the version that sings without fear.

That feels vibration instead of analysing it.

That knows,without words.

Time collapses.

I’m not 57. I’m not broken. I’m not autistic, anxious, or trying to belong.

I’m just vibration.

Aware. Alive.

Enough.

The Healing Happens Outside the Clock

We try to fix ourselves with logic.

But the deepest healing I’ve ever seen, in myself and others, doesn’t happen through thinking.

It happens in spaces where language dissolves and feeling takes over.

In a world obsessed with tracking, measuring, and proving,

Sound offers something wilder.

A return to the felt sense.

A remembering.

And sometimes, a prophecy.

This Is Why I Offer Sound Journeys

Not to fix people.

But to offer them a space where time softens.

Where healing is allowed to be nonlinear.

Where the nervous system can experience something that makes no logical sense, but feels like coming home.

Sometimes, that’s all we need.

Not more thinking.

But a moment outside of time, where the body can feel,

I’m safe.

I’m free. I’m here.
