Aerial Soundbaths

Cocooned, supported, and deeply settling

Aerial soundbaths take place while you rest in a soft fabric hammock, gently suspended above the ground.

The body is held evenly, allowing muscles to soften and unnecessary effort to drop away. There’s no pressure from the floor, no need to adjust, and nothing to achieve.

Many people find the hammock creates a strong sense of containment and safety, making it easier to let go and fully receive the sound.

The experience is calming, immersive, and quietly powerful. You don’t have to focus, visualise, or “do” anything at all. You simply rest and allow the sound to do the work.

Sessions are held at Golden Grove Retreat Centre and Urban Zen. Dates and availability are listed below.

What to expect

During an aerial soundbath, you are gently supported in a fabric hammock, allowing the body to fully rest without pressure on the joints or muscles. The hammock creates a sense of containment and safety, which many people find helps them settle more quickly.

The session is guided at a slow, steady pace. You are not expected to do anything other than rest and listen, allowing the sound to move through the body in its own time.

  • Resting comfortably in a supportive aerial hammock

  • A guided opening to help you settle and feel held

  • Gongs, singing bowls, and gentle sound textures

  • A slow, steady pace with space to rest

  • Time at the end to reorient and ground

Most sessions last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on the venue.

Who are these for?

Aerial soundbaths often suit people who:

  • Feel comforted by being gently held or cocooned

  • Struggle to relax fully on the floor

  • Carry tension in the shoulders, back, or hips

  • Feel overwhelmed, anxious, or mentally busy

  • Want a deeply calming experience with strong physical support

No previous experience with soundbaths or hammocks is needed.

The role of suspension

Being suspended reduces pressure points and limits unnecessary movement.

This can help the nervous system settle more quickly, allowing sound to be felt through the body rather than analysed by the mind.

Many people describe a sense of floating, safety, and deep rest, sometimes accompanied by vivid internal sensations or a strong sense of stillness.

You remain fully supported throughout.
