Floating Soundbath
Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff
Floating Soundbaths at Cardiff Metropolitan University offer a unique opportunity to completely switch off.
Held in warm, shallow water, supported by soft floating airbeds and surrounded by the gentle acoustics of the pool, these sessions invite the body to soften and let go.
At Cardiff Metropolitan University, sound meets water in a powerful way. The deep tones of the gongs, singing bowls and handpan travel across the surface of the pool and through the water beneath you, allowing the vibrations to move through muscles, fascia and the nervous system.
The result is an experience where sound is not only heard, but felt through the body.
As the mind quietens and the body settles, breathing slows and the nervous system begins to unwind.
Float. Drift. Let go.
Here, sound meets water, and your body remembers how to rest.

What Makes this Different
1
What to expect from a floating sound bath
A Floating Soundbath is a deeply calming, full-body experience where you recline on a supportive airbed, gently drifting on warm water as sound and vibration ripple around, and through, you.
Unlike a soundbath on a mat or hammock, the water beneath you becomes part of the journey. It amplifies vibration, softens your fascia, and supports every inch of your body, allowing your nervous system to truly rest.
From the moment you arrive, your senses begin to slow.
Dimmed lighting, subtle scent trails, the gentle embrace of water beneath you, and the resonant tones of gongs, bowls, and drums creating wave after wave of soothing sound.

Why is this experience so different?
Each session is crafted to engage your senses in harmony, bringing your body, mind, and emotions into a state of deep coherence:
💧 Water: Floating on warm water calms the vagus nerve, softens tension in the fascia, and invites a primal sense of safety—like returning to the womb.
🎵 Sound: Gongs, bowls, and drums create rich waves of vibration that travel through the water and your body, helping brainwaves slow and the breath deepen.
🌌 Space: Held in a warm, quiet pool with low light and minimal stimulation, this setting creates a safe cocoon for nervous system reset and inner stillness.
3
Why is it different to other sound baths?
💦 Floating on water creates a profound sense of safety, your body is fully supported, allowing the nervous system to downshift with ease.
🎶 Sound waves move more efficiently through water than air—so you don’t just hear the gongs and bowls, you feel them resonate through every cell.
🫀 The gentle pressure of water, combined with deep tones and rhythmic pulses, supports vagus nerve stimulation, lymphatic flow, and emotional release.
🌸 Layered with subtle scents and sacred plant essences, this becomes a whole-body, whole-being experience.
